It is a good idea to start looking for an apartment within 30 to 40 days before your estimated move date, as this will give you plenty of time to make lots of calls and complete any paperwork that is necessary. If you tart looking before that time frame many of the apartments that you see will probably be rented by the time that you get ready to move, and not many landlords will be willing to hold an apartment for very long.
